Common People   - Pulp

英國青年似乎特別喜歡描寫他們成天無所事事、漫無目標的生活

狹小的公寓、骯髒的巷弄、擁擠的街頭

不斷重複著找工作、丟工作、沒工作、不想工作

心裡有鼓精力想要發作卻沒地方宣洩。挫折遇多了，所謂的目標理想早已被拋諸腦後

面對巨大且冷酷無情的體制，沒有能力與其反抗，乾脆也不要想了...

踏著復古球鞋踢著鋁罐，到地下室的撞球間與狐群狗黨們哈草打牌虛擲光陰

日復一日

不過

狀似抱怨，其實骨子裡其實還挺自豪他們這樣子的生活方式...

是啊

再真實不過了！

要是你不曾這樣生活過，你又怎麼會知道心底真正想要的是什麼？

沒有經歷過完全沒有目標，一切只剩下最原始，吃喝拉撒睡喝酒抽煙做愛的日子

你又怎麼有辦法聽清楚身體裡的生命在吶喊著什麼？

比起精心培養策畫堆疊出來的象牙塔頂

遵循著所謂成功者的遊戲規則依樣畫葫蘆

做著自己也不是真的很清楚到底是不是對的事情，莫名的爭著一百年前的人也爭過的看似很華麗的王冠

這些許多在pub提著酒瓶看似頹廢的人們，應該更清楚生命到底是怎麼樣的一回事情

也更具有改變這世界的能力。

She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge,
she studied sculpture at Saint Martins College,
that's where I caught her eye.

她來自希臘且渴求知識
她在聖馬丁學院學習雕塑
就在那兒 她看上我了..

She told me that her dad was loaded,
I said "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola,
she said "Fine" and in 30 seconds time she said
"I want to live like common people,
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people,
I want to sleep with common people like you".

Well what else could I do, I said "I'll see what I can do."

她告訴我說他爸爸很有錢
我說：「噢，那我需要一杯蘭姆可樂。」
她說：「好。」然後在三十秒內，她說
「我想要像普通人一般生活，
我想要做一般人做的事，
我想要和一般人睡，
我想要和像你的一般人睡」
「嗯不然我能做什麼呢？」我說:「 我想一下該怎麼幫你吧。」

I took her to a supermarket,
I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere,
so it started there. I said 'Pretend you've got no money',
but she just laughed and said "Oh you're so funny",
I said "Yeah. Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here.
" Are you sure you want to live like common people,
you want to see whatever common people see,
you want to sleep with common people,
you want to sleep with common people like me.
 But she didn't understand, she just smiled and held my hand.

於是我帶她到超市去了,
我也不知道為什麼要帶她到超市耶
「反正總要起個頭，那就從這裡開始吧」

我說：「現在假裝你是沒有錢的人。」
她只是笑笑的說: 「 哈哈你真愛說笑耶」
「是哦？我可沒看到這裡有任何人在笑耶...」

你確定要當個普通人嗎?
你確定你想經歷普通人的生活嗎?
你想跟普通人睡啊?
像我這樣的?
她還是不懂我說什麼,只是笑笑的握著我的手

Rent a flat above a shop, cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool,
pretend you never went to school.
But still you'll never get it right
'cos when you're laid in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall,
if you called your dad he could stop it all.

「你知道什麼叫做真正的"普通人嗎"？

  普通人就是在店舖上租個公寓，
  剪去你的長髮，找份工作
  抽些菸草，玩場撞球
  假裝你從沒上學過。

  但你還是沒辦法做得很好
  因為當半夜你躺在床上，看著滿牆爬的蟑螂
  你還是會想說如果打通電話向爹求救，他就可以阻止這一切吧..」

You'll never live like common people,
you'll never do whatever common people do,
you'll never fail like common people,
you'll never watch your life slide out of view,
and dance and drink and screw, because there's nothing else to do.

妳永遠無法活的像個平凡人
妳也永遠無法做平凡人所做

因為你一點都不了解,
你從不會像普通人那樣失敗

看著日子一天一天在眼前消逝
只能跳舞喝酒做愛
因為他們除此無事可做啊

Sing along with the common people,
sing along and it might just get you through.
Laugh along with the common people,
laugh along even though they're laughing at you and the stupid things
that you do, because you think that poor is cool.

跟普通人一起唱吧!
也許會讓你看清一點

跟平凡人一起笑吧
即使他們在笑妳所做的蠢事

因為你覺得貧窮很酷啊

Like a dog lying in a corner they will bite you and never warn you.
Look out they'll tear your insides out.

'Cos everybody hates a tourist,
especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh and the chip stains
and grease will come out in the bath.


他們就像街邊的狗一樣

咬妳之前不會先警告妳的
而且會撕碎你的裡裡外外

因為人人都討厭看熱鬧的

You will never understand how it feels to live your life
with no meaning or control and with nowhere left to go.
You are amazed that they exist and they burn so bright
whilst you can only wonder why.

妳從未了解生活沒有任何意義
或著無法掌控而且無處可逃是怎樣的感覺

而當他們真實存在而且燃燒的這樣燦爛
你卻只能在一旁空想為什麼
